Visiting Teacher - Scott Tusa - July 13 & 14

July 13th - Friday Evening Public Talk w/ Scott Tusa

Time: 7:30pm - 9:00pm

"Working Skillfully with Emotions"

Description: Life doesn't always go the way we want. Rather than checking out when difficulties arise, meditation offers us an opportunity to look towards in order to find true contentment. Contentment does not come from ignoring suffering, but rather happens when we are able to meet and be curious about our fuller human experience. Eventually the kindness and space we can provide towards our own suffering becomes the kindness and compassion we can express towards others. In this evening talk, and through periods of meditation, experiential learning, and discussion, we will explore how to meet our difficult emotions with more awareness, compassion, and ease.

July 14th - Saturday Half-Day Workshop w/ Scott Tusa

Time: 10:30am - 3:30pm

"The Dharma that Liberates"

2,600 years ago an Indian prince awoke to a truth (dharma), one so simple yet so subtle, he felt the need to stay silent and that no one would be able to comprehend it. Entreated to teach, the prince who would eventually come to be known as the Buddha or awakened one, turned the wheel of the teachings on this profound truth, ushering an abundance of spiritual wealth and goodness into our world. All of this benefit and goodness was not the result of material progress or social upheaval, but instead was the fruit born of one man’s inner transformation.

In this half-day workshop we will dive deep into the heart of the Buddha’s inner transformation and the spiritual tradition that arose from it. Through a combination of experiential learning, guided meditation, and discussion we will explore how to access and develop a grounded sense of inner well-being, a more available and open space of mindful awareness, and deeper insight into how to better overcome mental and emotional habits that cause unnecessary suffering.

We will have a lunch break from 12:30pm - 1:30pm. Light snacks will be provided.

Anyone is welcome to attend this event! No experience necessary.
