Melissa Jean is an Assistant Professor in the Mindfulness Studies masters' program at Lesley University, where she teaches courses in academic writing, research methods, mindful creative writing, thesis writing, and mindfulness and the environment. She has a PhD in Human Dimensions of Ecosystem Science and Management from Utah State University, where she also earned a graduate certificate in Women's and Gender Studies, and an MFA in Creative Writing from Lesley University. She has a certificate in mindfulness facilitation from Vanderbilt's Osher Center for Integrative Medicine. Melissa teaches classes and workshops on mindfulness for creative writers, and is also engaged in sharing mindfulness practices with activists and social changemakers. In her spare time, she likes hiking, yoga, vegan baking, studying the Tarot, and learning about plants and animals with her two children.
